The technology that has gone into the design of this excellent food dehydrator is second to none. It is one of our more expensive models but in our opinion it’s worth every penny if you are looking for one of the best dehydrators on the market. The solid feel of the folding and locking mechanism is reassuringly secure and intuitive to use, allowing the Sahara Dehydrator to collapse into a third of the space that it occupies when in use for easy storage in the included shelf case. Bulky dehydrators are not ideal for smaller kitchens, Brod & Taylor have solved the space issue with the Sahara, while providing an uncompromisingly premium product with a large drying capacity.
Twin stage timers that allow a switch from high to low temperature drying are becoming more common, with the higher initial drying period taking care of food hygiene concerns and the second phase allowing low temperature nutrient preservation. Each drying phase on the Sahara Dehydrator can be set between 15 minutes and 99 hours, with a range of drying temperatures from 30ºC – 74ºC, the Sahara Dehydrator is suitable for all drying tasks from raw food recipes to dried meats and jerky, as well as being useful for yoghurt making and bread proofing when you take some of the trays out to create space. With a twin heating element, the Sahara automatically shuts down the second element to save energy when possible. This feature alone will recoup some of the high initial price of this premium dehydrator, making it significantly more economical to run than nearly all competitors. It’s also whisper quiet in operation, with an efficient radial fan guaranteeing even drying of your recipes by providing the correct balance of fresh and recirculated air.
