      GEO Terracotta Sprouter Starter Kit

      In Summary

      geo logo

The beautiful GEO Terracotta sprouter is a fine example of the traditional art and expertise of Tuscan craftsmen. Made entirely of natural terracotta, it features hexagonal trays with an innovative spacing system that gives the grower complete control of the sprouting environment.

The GEO Terracotta Sprouter also includes 3 free packs of Organic Sprouting Seeds.

      UK Juicers Says

Trays can be either stacked with a gap between, to allow light to get to the sprouts, or without a gap to create a damp dark environment that is ideal for germination and growing beansprouts (click on the ‘view larger images’ button above for details). Because the trays are heavier than plastic varieties, the weight of an upper tray on beansprouts below helps to make the sprouts thicker and stronger as they push up against it. The natural terracotta trays also allow greater ventilation and help to prevent mould from developing.

We use this regularly, it is a superb product. It looks much better than the plastic tray alternatives. The sprouts taste really good and fresh. We have found two issues with it. The first is true for all open type sprouters: flies! We get a lot of flies in the summer, they like to head for the sprouts. Solution: cover with a mesh during the summer. The second issue is specific to this product (I think): Sprouts getting stuck in the drainage holes. Solution: Once a week give it a good scrub, rinse, dry in the oven at about 150 centigrade. Any stuck sprouts will shrivel up and fall out. This is much easier than poking with a pin, I know, I tried! This will also keep it from getting slimy which can be a problem with some seeds.
