It's quite rare that we see such genuinely significant innovations in juicer design, with most brands being content in just refreshing tried and tested designs. Sana have looked carefully at how to get more from the horizontal masticating juicer format and they've come up with something really special in the new Sana Supreme 727 Juicer. The real game changer is the introduction of the first variable speed motor for a low speed masticating juicer. They've spared no expense and gone straight for the best with the BLDC motor which has four speed settings. Even on the high speed setting there is no chance of any loss of nutrient extraction but what you do get is a horizontal juicer that can now compete with vertical models for speed and convenience. With speed settings of 40, 65, 90, and 120 rpm you can finely calibrate your juicing on the fly, even with a mixed ingredient juice - low speed for a carrot, high speed for celery, low speed for berries and so on.
With a redesign of the juicing components Sana have also managed a significant increase in efficiency on all ingredients, including those where other juicer formats previously had the edge. Sana have truly knocked it out of the park, bringing the compact, small footprint advantages of vertical juicers to the horizontal design, while losing none of the strengths that horizontal auger juicers are traditionally known for, like juicing leafy greens and softer fruits. Another innovation that helps this improved performance is the new pulp ejection system. An ingenious rotating blade helps to expel the pulp while adding an extra final squeeze as the pulp exits the juicer.
The blank homogenising screen allows all the usual pureeing and crushing functions. There are none of the noodle extrusion nozzles found in other models but for us that is no major problem. Most people who buy a horizontal juicer just shove these in a drawer and forget about them anyway. We like the dual feed hopper which makes it just as easy to feed in a handful of berries as a stick of celery. They've also done a ground up redesign on assembly, with a one touch push button release feature. The juicing parts attach with a reassuringly solid click as you rotate them into place. The addition of a juice cap is another first in a horizontal model, allowing for pre-rinsing of the juicing parts and drip free transport to the sink when it's time for clean up.
The zero compromise approach that Sana have taken with their luxury flagship juicer is obvious from the first time you unbox the 727. No detail has been overlooked. There's a half litre Crystal Glass juice glass from the oldest glass factory in Bohemia included, reinforcing the sense of quality that the Sana Supreme exudes, and a beautiful highly polished stainless steel pulp catcher. They've attempted a convincing blend of technical innovation, luxury and aesthetic appeal in their effort to offer the best low speed horizontal masticating juicer on the market - we think they've succeeded!
